As I was looking through some old photos, I saw this picture and it immediately reminded me of physics and forces. Gravity is applying a force to this cart towards the floor, but the normal force, which is perpendicular to the ground, is equal to that of the amount of force that gravity is applying. It is an equilibrium. my friend is pushing the cart foward with a force that is greater than the force of friction with the ground. The net force is not 0 therefore the cart is moving.
