Blog 6: pull

As I was looking through some pictures of a trip my family and I took to Vegas for my sister's graduation, I noticed that in this picture my mom is grabbing one of my sister's pictures on her picture lei. As she pulls the picture towards herself, the picture pulls back with an equal and opposite force. The reason that the picture accelerates a lot more than my mom is because a=F/m and since the F's are equal and my mom's m is far greater than the picture's m, her a is a lot smaller.

Blog 5:

I was looking through some of my pictures of my last trip during the summer and i noticed that friction is everywhere. At first glance I did not notice anything to do with friction in this picture, but after i thought about it, i realized that there was a lot of good physics occuring. Friction is so useful for everyone. I noticed that if it weren't for friction then all the items on the table would be sliding off the table and I wouldn't be able to hold my chopsticks. Also there is a smart force being applied by the table to everything on it and it is equal to the force of everything in the downward direction on the table. Also, whenever I eat using chopsticks I am doing work because I am applying force in a certain direction.

Blog 4: Jumping

As I was looking at some of my old pictures from my trip this past summer to Atlanta, I came across this picture and immediately thought of Physics: potential energy and kinetic energy. The moment before my friend in the white jumps, his pe is 0 and his ke=x. When he reaches his peak in the air straight up from where he jumped like he is in the picture his ke is 0 and his pe=x. The energy isn't lost, only changed from ke to pe.
